XT-Commerce high-speed search

As the standard installation of XT-Commerce comes with a quite slow product search, we’ve refined the whole thing and added some nifty effects to the search results.

The main goal was to optimize the search for shops that have thousands of articles. The totally revamped search displays results in 1-3 seconds, from an article source of 500.000. It’s capable of searching just the title, the autor of a book ( written for a bookshop with extra fields ), and the product contents. Of course you can combine these searches or limit it to one field.

The resulting output is a plain list with the title of the articles, the short description and the price. Hovering on an article title will reveal the content of the extended description in a mootools based ( yes, the shop can do mootools ) tooltip.
