XT:Commerce - remember customer bank info

XT:Commerce does not store, or better said, does not automatically fill the fields of a customers bank information when he had previously bought something via bank transfer. Banktransfer update does the trick.

It also includes a page for XT:Commerce on which the customer can easily change his bank information, if you have provided it once.

Having seen this in various online shops, I decided to write my own function for the xt commerce shop, which enables you to display new products on the index page with prices that are images. This can help promoting your articles a lot better and, in addition, have the cheap price ( hopefully ) move over parts of the image so it will look like one image at all.

In fact, you can choose any style you like, as the images are pre-produced as gifs, so just create them in the font of your choice, copy the module in your shop folder and you’re all set.

XT:Commerce Google Sitemap - generate google sitemaps for 1000’s of products

Here it is, the XT:Commerce Google Sitemap Tool, which enables even shops with thousands of products to create valid google sitemaps.

Each sitemap file can be limited to a certain amount of products, a main sitemap.xml links to these files. Now you can give google all your products without having to write these maps your own. Pings google automatically and notifies them about your new shop sitemap.

Define how many products you wish to have in one sitemap file, press start and you’re all set.

Add lightbox to XT:Commerce shops ( XT:Com 3.04 SP2.1 )

XT:Commerce is getting old, as the actual release still utilizes popups to display original images. So here’s a simple way to include the lightbox ( well, in this case, slimbox, as we are going to use the famous mootools framework )…

Step 1:
Copy your mootools.js to the main folder of your shop. Copy slimbox.js to the same location, and copy slimbox.css as well as all attached images to the templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_/ main folder.

Step 2:
Go to templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_/javascript/general.js.php and open this file.

Step 3:
Add this line of code to the file

Step 4:
Go to templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_/modules/product_info/product_info.html and open it

Find this:

Now go to your templates/YOUR_TEMPLATES_/ folder and locate the main CSS file. Open it and include the slimbox.css file via import:

Now the real important part
As you surely wish to show biiiiig images in the lightbox instead of the resized versions that XT:Commerce creates, do the following:

Open in your main shop directory the file /includes/modules/product_info.php. Locate this piece of code, which should be around line 92:

$image = ”;

Add the following below this line:
$image2 = DIR_WS_ORIGINAL_IMAGES.$product->data['products_image'];
$info_smarty->assign(’REAL_IMAGE’,$image2);


That’s it - your shop now displays the big product info pictures via lightbox / slimbox!

XT:Commerce navtrail - change display of article number to article name

The standard installation of XT:Commerce 3.04 SP2.1 will show only the article number in the navtrail bar. This is quite annoying and also not very SEO optimized. Therefore here’s a small hack that will display the name of the article in the navtrail instead of the - mostly irritating and ugly article number:

XT::commerce most viewed products widget

For all you shop owners, here’s the easiest way to display the most viewed articles in your shop. It’s a snap to set up and it’s easy to configure it to match your needs.

The basic variant shows the top10 viewed articles in the sidebar ( or wherever you place the placeholder for the widget ). Included are all necessary files and an installation manual. You can download it for free here: XT::Commerce - show most viewed products

This is the first release, another one, utilizing a tagCloud similar style will follow.

XT::commerce search tag cloud

Add a tagcloud to your shop to display the most user searches - this module comes with all needed files to set up the tagCloud quickly and efficiently.

You can change the design of the CSS to your liking, define how many occurences of searches are needed to display the word in the cloud an a few other things.

Rekordjahr beim E-Commerce

Der deutsche Online-Versandhandel sieht beim Vorweihnachtsgeschäft einem Rekordjahr entgegen. Gegenüber dem Vorjahr steigen die Umsätze voraussichtlich um fast zwölf Prozent. Der Verband des bundesdeutschen Online-Handels (vdbo) geht von 4,8 Milliarden Euro Umsatz mit Online-Weihnachtseinkäufen aus, rund 500 Millionen Euro mehr als noch 2006. “Das Weihnachtsgeschäft macht gut die Hälfte des diesjährigen Jahresumsatzes von knapp zehn Milliarden Euro aus”, sagt vdbo-Präsident Ole Damm.

Der Hauptverbands des Deutschen Einzelhandels (HDE) bestätigt den Höhenflug: “Der Online-Handel läuft wie verrückt und das auch an Weihnachten”, sagt Verbands-Sprecher Hubertus Pellengahr. Rund 50.000 Einzelhändler mischen im Online-Handel mit. Der Kauf von Weihnachtsgeschenken im Internet boomt nicht nur bei Auktionsportalen, großen Buchhändlern und Versandhäusern – auch Privatleute und kleine Onlinehändler melden Zuwachsraten von 20 bis 100 Prozent im Vergleich zu 2006.

Bei eBay sind in diesem Jahr neben Klassikern wie Harry Potter-Büchern und Handys auch Wellness-Wochenenden, Tanzkurse und Bierbrau-Sets heiß begehrt, sagt Sprecherin Daphne Rauch. Laut vdbo sind die Menschen inzwischen im Umgang mit Shopping-Portalen und Preissuchmaschinen geübt und schätzen den Zeitgewinn gegenüber dem Einkauf in der Innenstadt. Entlang der Fußgängerzonen hellt sich die Stimmung nur langsam auf. Während die ersten Adventswochen für die Händler enttäuschend verliefen, zog die Nachfrage am dritten Adventssamstag an.
