Bumpbox now supports creating galleries | Bumpbox grouping | Bumpbox 2.0

We’re happy to announce the new version of bumpbox, with a major leap to version 2.0. We’ve removed a few bugs, rewritten the installation information and updated the needed mootools libraries, so bumpbox now also works like a charm on IE9.

Yet the most important update is surely the grouping functionality. You can now create multiple galleries ( instances ) of bumpboxes. How it works? Go grab your download here and see for yourself.

Enjoy the newest release and spread the word!

I’ve tried to make the bumpbox work within a Joomla environment – are there any tricks to do it? The images just launch in an empty page rather than in a lightbox.
    Any hint greatly appreciated.

      Hi Ludwig,

well that depends – are you using other JS frameworks like jQuery and alike? This can lead ( most likely ) to conflicts as most frameworks utilize the same function names which renders both JS frameworks useless.

Nope. the template that I’m using itself makes use of mooTools and the library is already referenced in the head section of the page. This is the version 1.12 that comes with Joomla – is there a possible conflict?

Yep, that’s the issue – bumpbox 2.0 was built with mootools 1.3 which has changed a lot from 1.12 – seems you’d require to update it to get bumpbox working.

OK, problem solved. Thx a lot.
Only issue is, that using the latest 1.3.1 version of http://www.mootools.net won’t work and results in empty popup windows. I then replaced it with the one that comes with the bumpbox and it simply did the trick.

            Hi Ludwig,

glad it worked out for you now. The mootools version coming with bumpbox is v1.3 with compatibility set. Maybe the 1.3.1 does again a lot of things differently, thus the blank screen. But thanks for pointing out, so we can prepare to adapt it to the new version.

            cheers

Well, Bumpbox worked fine – but other side effects remain: Joomla backend admin menus are disabled when using mootools 1.3 – I had to copy back the 1.12 files.
Perhaps I’ll try again with Joomla 1.6 ;)

Yes Ludwig, we experienced this issue too. We’re going to change Joomlas 1.5 integrated mootools to a new version soon, yet that requires a bunch of rewrites.
Too bad they don’t keep up to date with their installations. Lookin forward to the 1.6 too ^^

            cheers

love your script bumpbox love that it handles so many different internal options just having an issue with using it when i have a flash element on the web page – when you open the bumpbox script it shuts down and closes any flash running in the background any suggestions on how to fix this?

ohh one more strange thing if you go left or right a few times the backgrounds seems to keep adding and blocking off the page behind – its like multiples opening but not closing – this only happens when there is flash playing in the background page.

Anyone have issues with loading localized .html files into the Bumpbox?? I can load a url based .com or .net into it… but not if I try to load a .html file. Any ideas???

    Hello,

thank you for your great bumpbox script, I’ve been using it for a long time now.

Just a question: I would like to access a group of images that are on different pages (in the same directory though).
For example, I have sort of an “index” page with a couple of thumbnails and for each of them a detail page with more images.

Is it possible to click on one of the thumbnails on the index page and then navigate through the images from the detail page automatically using the next/prev buttons?

Do you think this is actually possible? Currently I’m using an older bumpbox version but I could update to 2.0 if that makes things easier.

    Thanks a lot,
    Sam

    Hello,
I’m using bumpbox.2.0 and I have a gallery of inlineHTML divs. For some reason the previous button does not work when it is going from one inlineHTML div to the preceding one. I opened the attached file and copied the link in the index.html to replicate this error thinking it was because it is inlinehtml hidden div on the page but that isn’t the case.

When the same type of bumpbox catergories are placed one after the other they cannot go back to the previous slide and break.

For example on the demo page I duplicated the youtube div and placed another youtube embed link in the second “Youtube Video” link. The rest of the gallery works fine but once you pass the first youtube video type and attempt to go to the previous one the code breaks and div layer doesn’t close.

    FLV Video »
    MP3 Audio »
    SWF Video »
    PDF File »
    Image File »
    HTML File »
    Inline HTML »
    Youtube Video »
    Youtube Video »
    Vimeo Video »

This behavior also occurs when the other file types are in the list beside one another. Is this a known issue? If so how so I fix it?

    Many thanks,
    Amy

I am working on moving our joomla site to 1.7 and would love to be able to use bumpbox for our magazine displays. Do you have a plugin for Joomla 1.7?

Works great! Just one minor thing – would like to make the frame around the content smaller – have looked high and low and can’t work it out. Using it with a YouTube Video Player. Thanks for a great tool!
